
PROBLEM IBM’s continued goal is to improve workforce enablement and productivity through access to relevant job and role-based content.
Our specific challenge for this assignment was to provide IBM employees with direct access to job-related information, tools and education, relative to their positions.
SOLUTION We created the On-Demand Workplace—an interface that directly addressed core employee job-related needs across a wide spectrum of users, wherein users could customize their experience. This interface also supports many different types of content and applications in order to fulfill the specific needs of any IBM employee.
RESULTS
• 76% of IBM employees access the intranet daily
• 72% rate the intranet as their preferred information source
• 61% view the intranet as crucial to their jobs
• IBM saves an estimated $6 billion a year
• Nielsen selected the intranet as one of the Year’s 10 Best Intranets (2006)
