Account Executive

Assists the Senior Account Executive or the Account Supervisor in managing the day-to-day operations of the account, particular emphasis on recordkeeping, project management, and the pre-production and production phases of creative development.
Responsibilities
Internal
- Initiates openings of projects in financial system with traffic coordinator.
- With appropriate direction and supervision from the Senior/Account Executive, manages the day-to-day mechanics of the client work, i.e.:
- Initiates openings of projects with traffic coordinator
- Keeps the agency team informed of client requests and changes.
- Follows up on all work in progress to ensure due dates are met.
- Reviews creative work prior to submitting to client for approval.
- Tracks project expenditures and agency hours against estimate.
- Prepares and updates project briefs, estimates, timelines, status reports, conference reports and other supporting materials.
- Maintains project files, sample binders and other account-related information.
- Performs administrative duties, such as faxing, copying, typing, arranging for messengers and overnight packages, and meeting preparation.
- Adheres to agency process and financial policies.
- Enters time reports once a week, at a minimum.
External
- Communicates with the client in absence of Senior/Account Executive or to back up the Senior Account Executive, as directed.
- Acquires knowledge of client's business and markets and shares with agency team members.
Additional Responsibilities
- Stays alert for opportunities to grow client business and billings.
- Conducts industry research, competitive analysis and/or other research tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Handles other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required.
- 1 to 3 years of advertising/marketing, account management experience required.
- Must have prior experience working in an advertising agency.
- Communication Ability - Ability to read, write analyze and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and other agency employees.
- Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables.
- Computer Skills - Personal computer proficiency, specifically spreadsheet, word processing, PowerPoint (or comparable presentation software), Internet, and email applications.

Requirements
- Knowledge and experience architecting and developing Microsoft.NET/C# web applications utilizing the 4.0 framework, including LINQ and MVC 3
- Experience designing and developing relational databases, specifically Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience publishing and consuming web services
- Experience integrating disparate in-house and 3rd-party services into seamless solutions
- Understanding of development life cycle and how business rules apply to applications
- Understanding of JavaScript, XML, XHTML, HTML5, CSS, frameworks such as jQuery, and other common languages and tools
- Versatile knowledge of web-related scripting languages, such as ASP, PHP, Python, and ColdFusion, a plus

Manages overall agency service, activities and performance on one or more accounts. Oversees and troubleshoots the tactical, day-to-day work of account team and leads strategic development of account with Account Director. Builds strong client relationships with senior clients, based on achieving client's marketing objectives in a manner that results in agency profits.
Essential Functions
Internal
- Researches, develops and presents marketing strategies and plans to help client achieve goals and to increase agency billings (in conjunction with Account Director).
- Consults with strategy and planning, creative, media and/or production to be certain client objectives and brand are clearly understood and to develop strategic solutions.
- Supervises account staff to ensure agency product (creative and strategic) meets client strategy and expectations.
- Reviews all client documentation before submission to client to ensure accuracy and consistency across account, including creative strategy briefs, timelines, estimates, media plans, conference reports, point-of-views, results analysis, etc.
- Receives client feedback on agency performance and recommends action to improve or maintain client satisfaction.
- Reviews account revenue forecast with Account Director, identifies challenges and opportunities, and provides recommendations to meet or exceed revenue goals.
- Provides pricing guidelines to account team and reviews and approves all client estimates and pricing documents prior to submission to client.
- Manages account workflow and resources and makes staffing recommendations to Account Director.
- Conducts performance appraisals, creates development plans, provides mentoring and training, and delivers ongoing performance feedback to direct reports.
- Ensures account team follows both client and agency processes.
- Enters time reports once a week, at a minimum.
External
- Builds rapport and credibility with client based on trust and expert counsel, including day-to-day clients and senior clients.

Internal
- Consults and coordinates with strategy and planning, creative, production, and media teams to develop strategic marketing campaigns and solutions for client.
- Serves as project lead for more complex and difficult projects. Guides the day-to-day development of all client advertising/marketing projects from start to finish. Ensures that progressive steps in the process are approved with adequate time to meet schedules.
- Develops and updates project documents including: creative strategy briefs, estimates, timelines, segmentation matrices, media plans (in conjunction with media department), status reports, conference reports and other supporting materials.
- Keeps the agency team informed of client requests and changes.
- Reviews all media and creative work prior to submitting to client for review.
- Monitors expenditures and billable hours to manage project to estimate. Alerts client to changes in estimate immediately and secures approval.
- Updates finance weekly on project status and projected agency revenues.
- Collects program results and develops post analysis reports for client.
- Pursues overdue invoices with client.

The Assistant Account Executive (AAE) works with agency Account Executives in directing and coordinating assigned projects. In this role, the AAE is responsible for sound, proper and timely execution of all assigned work.
The AAE reports to assigned Account Director. As assigned, the Account Director has overall responsibility for the work to which the AAE is assigned. In this position, the AAE will work closely with all agency staff members in planning, analyzing and evaluating information for both programs and projects and in managing assigned activities.
Responsibilities
The AAE has two areas of responsibility as may be assigned on specific projects and programs.
- Planning, analyzing and evaluating information and agency output relevant to assigned client projects and needs. This may include the following:
- Helping develop workable budgets and plans.
- Collaborating with the AE and Account Supervisor in preparation of recommendations, marketing strategies and actions for the client.
- Reviewing, analyzing material relative to client needs -- media results, research data, etc.
- Coordinating and managing the activities necessary to meet the needs of assigned projects. This may include the following:
- Handles assigned work requests in efficient, timely manner.
- Assists in monitoring budget, research and similar items as assigned.
